Many different mental images come to mind when the phrase "Maiden Voyage" is used, but it is ultimately understood that whatever activity, pursuit, accomplishment, etc. being referenced is happening or has happened for the first time. Hence the title of my first blog. I had written a couple mini/micro blogs on some of the popular social networking websites, but I had never gone through the process of setting up an official blog of my own. And quite honestly, I had never really intended to write one. This all changed when I saw the growing amount of time that my wife was spending reading some of her favorite blogs and writing her own. So lets break the champaign bottle and set sail...
I am going to reserve future blog entries to really start opening up by sharing my life experiences and voicing my opinions, but I wanted to use this entry as a launching point. During the registration process here on Blogger, I was asked to supply a name for my blog. This caused me stop and think... being the kind of person that believes that names are important and have meaning behind them (and being a sucker for alliteration) I wanted something better than "Bobby's Blog". I started thinking about how I would use this blog and what type of entries I would post and I came to the conclusion that there wouldn't really be any particular theme to my posts. I also knew that there wouldn't be any limitations or boundaries to my subject matter either. One entry could consist of me bragging about how awesome my wife is and then the next could be me on my soapbox about politics or religion.
After I settled on my content, my next challenge was finding an available name. Being a little late to the blogging "dance", a lot of the names that I wanted were already taken. I tried "Robins Rants", "Robins Ramblings", "Robins Random Ramblings", and then finally removing my name, I found "Random Ramblings and Rhetoric". Call me weird, but I LOVED that name. To further prove the point that this name was perfect for me, I totally geeked out and included the definitions from dictionary.com.
So as we leave the pier and head out to deeper water, I hope that you will stay tuned and enjoy the journey with me. I hope that future posts will be a little more interesting than this one, but I can't really promise you that. Hey, I had to start somewhere right? Well, that's all for now. Stay blessed and highly favored!
